Our Story

Wishlist Speckle Park was established in 2020 by Sophie Worth, a fourth-generation livestock producer with a lifelong love of cattle.

A little bit of History:

Raised on the traditions of her livestock-focused family, Sophie grew up talking price trends, rainfall, and pasture management at the dinner table. Her maternal grandparents, Neil and Colleen Stackman, established a Hereford and Angus operation at “Bungara” near Niangala in 1988. Neil still tells Sophie she should be “breeding blacks.” Sophie laughs, “I’ll show you how good Speckles are, Grandfather!”

In 1992, Sophie’s father Murray and grandfather Elvin purchased the neighbouring property Windemere. Soon after, Murray met Tracey (Sophie’s mum).

Both sides of Sophie’s heritage come from hard-working, bush-bred cattle families - from the Galloways run by Bev Worth in Elands, to the Angus and Herefords in the New England and Gloucester.

How it all began:

In Year 9, Sophie’s Ag teacher (a Speckle Park breeder) introduced her to the breed via a youth camp in Scone. At first she asked, “What is a Speckle Park?” - but after that event, she was hooked. She spent months researching, showing, and dreaming of the day she would own her own Speckle Park cattle.

Determined to own her own Speckles, Sophie saved up and with support from her grandfather Neil (yes, the Angus devotee!), she purchased her first heifer in 2020 - and two more followed soon after. By the time she graduated high school in 2021, Sophie was implanting embryos, building her herd, and laying the foundation for Wishlist Speckle Park.

Looking to the future:

In 2023, she moved to northern Victoria to gain experience for her career. The stud took a brief pause while her cows continued to prove their merit in a commercial setting. Her Speckle Park cows held their own alongside Angus and Charolais crosses - a strong validation of the breed’s commercial value.

Now in 2025, Sophie is re-launching her breeding program with renewed focus. A flush in March, a website launch in June, and an embryo sale in July are just the beginning. This year will also mark her largest crop of purebred calves yet - a modest milestone, but exciting nonetheless.

Sophie remains passionate about Speckle Park’s potential, especially as eating quality becomes a key driver in both stud and commercial sectors. She believes in the importance of youth engagement and credits her early exposure as critical to her journey. While that first heifer is no longer on her “wishlist,” Sophie says:

Good cattle that do their job will always be on my Wishlist.
